Ekeren
De oude landen
Unique nature near the city! The Oude Landen consists of the beautifully winding Oudelandse Beek,
capriciously shaped reed collars, flowery grasslands and willow groves.
It is perhaps one of the most beautiful urban nature reserves in Flanders.
Known for its great flowers, such as the wild orchids that color the grasslands in spring pink-red,
but also for its reed birds (small carekite, bluethroat, reed bunting), the nightingales,
the many butterflies and the Scottish galloway cattle grazing from July to December.
lend a hand in management.

Domaine militaire "Klein schietveld"
Small in name, but big in nature. The Klein Schietveld is called "small" because of the proximity of its larger
brother Groot Schietveld. However, it is anything but small by Flemish standards; a continuous piece
of nature of almost 900 hectares is the exception rather than the rule in Flanders.
The military domain is partly accessible and you can walk, cycle and ride beautifully.
And during the season you can discover the area in a different way via rail bikes.
